Marking item as dispatched without printing off shipping labels

Options
Hi there,

Very recently sold some cinema tickets on Ebay which I emailed to the buyer after they paid, obviously now the item is still showing as awaiting dispatch.

How do I change the status that the item has been dispatched without printing and having to pay for the shipping labels for an item which the buyer has already received?

And if I do this and the item never theoretically shows as being received as there's no tracking number attached, will the release of funds from eBay always be pending?

There should be a way of marking as despatched if this was a sale which was not special delivery - My non SD sales show the option to mark as despatched still on the drop down menu on the sold listings.

However if this was a simple delivery sale then it is slightly more complicated as either you or the buyer has been charged for a label. If the label wasn't used and it was a buyer pays sale, then they get the postage label refund automatically. If it was seller pays (Ie free postage) then you need to ensure you make a claim for the unused label within 14 days- somewhere on the SD thread someone has helpfully added the link to make that claim. I'm not sure though how to mark an SD item sent without some form of replacement tracking number, but I'm sure someone will be along to advise.

I've added this as a new post as it is quite important.

If this was listed as an event ticket- which is the option ebay give for cinema tickets then yes it was compulsory to use SD, and if list (and I have both RM and Evri enabled) it shows the cost as £2.70. Therefore if you did this as seller pays you need to ensure you reclaim your postage cost , otherwise to add to your issues this £2.70 will be deducted from your sale proceeds.

As soolin says you need to claim the refund if it was a 'simple delivery'
Here's the link to claim https://www.ebay.co.uk/claims/simple-delivery/refund/seller

However you need to be able to provide an alternative tracking number to complete the claim and I fear without this your claim will be rejected.

To process your refund, we'll verify the following:

    • The label was paid for by you (you offered free shipping to the buyer).
    • The refund request is created within 14 days from the item's sale.
    • The label wasn't used within 14 days of the item's sale.
    • The package was delivered using a different tracking number.

If your request meets all these conditions, you'll receive a refund for the shipping cost. Please note, it may take up to 14 days for the refund to be processed.

It was a simple delivery and was down as seller pays for postage, apologies should have stated that in my original post.

So my understanding is that if I want to claim the refund of the original postage linked to the SD I need to provide a separate tracking number for it to be authorised - to get this tracking number I have to pay for another lot of postage but then claim one lot back so I will still basically have to pay for one lot of postage in either event?

Sorry if I've misunderstood your advice.

Unless I'm mistaken ebay doesn't provide for digital goods, so to be protected you will need to physically send (or hand over) something.
