They have a number of rooms and flights allocated. If they have sold the majority the price goes up, if they need to fill spaces the price will drop.
I also found that the best prices were offered late at night and the early hours.
Time of year booking also makes a difference.

If you like me package keep watching for a week or more

It used to be more predictable but no longer.

Another way is to look is to see if another company offers the same package. I've done trips where there were several different groups doing similar

If there is a high street presence you could try there. I used to go in and give three destinations and ask what would be the best price. They would come up with some good deals. Always go out to check reviews and make a decision without pressure.

But yes. I always used to delete cookies.
Thank you that is very helpful.

yes that's what I assume has happened, I was just surprised at the level of increase in one day.
What was the total previous price for the holiday ? What's the country of destination?

£500 without context is just a number.
Country of destination is Greece. Previous price £3870 new price £4440.

The price can change quickly, last years holiday dropped by £500 whilst I was in the shop booking it. Online before we went it was £3500, a small change of dates took it to £2500, final price we paid was £2k, I'll assume it's rare to work that much in the customer's favour
    Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

    Make £2024 in 2024...

:o How many people is that for? That's a lot for an off peak package to Greece, we went to Crete at the around the same time (early Oct) last year and it was £900 each for 2 weeks B&B at an excellent well rated hotel. Booked late, about 3 weeks before going.

As well as clearing cookies, reset your router so you get a new IP address. They often work on IP addresses, my wife will often get adverts for stuff I've been looking at even using a different device, that can only work on IP address.

It’s one of those urban myths that has persisted for years, that holidays go up the more you look at them. Prices change for many reasons - supply and demand basically - but your search history isn’t one of them.

Your search history may or may not be one of the factors in the dynamic pricing.
What can happen is if you look at a holiday, and your wife looks, and your Mum looks, then the algorithm sees an increase in traffic / interest and the dynamic pricing increases the cost.
I have sometimes found that looking and deciding in the afternoon and then leaving to actually book before work in the morning can save a few £s.  I have put that down to not many people browsing holidays before breakfast.
