But expected lifespan of a product isn't linked to warranty duration....QrizB said:Alderbank said:... After almost 5 years it could be that 'much reduced' amount of about £500.It could be less than that. We're 56 months into the 60 month warranty period; OP might only be due 4/60ths of the purchase price. £183.Agreed.But it's the minimum the OP might expect. What does case law have to say regarding 75" TVs?

Does your warranty offer a replacement TV if the current TV cannot be successfully replaced ? I had a Panasonic TV that was replaced by ‘John Lewis’ as the previous one could not be repaired correctly and was still within the John Lewis warranty? Hope you get it sorted (particularly as I recently purchased a new Samsung 75” TV as well ! :-)1

I have had a look at the Samsung 5 year warranty online and it states
EXTENT OF 5 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
1. During the Extended Warranty Period Samsung continues to warrant that the Samsung product shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship in accordance with the original warranty statement provided with the product.
2. In the event that Samsung is unable to repair your product, Samsung may at, its discretion, either exchange your existing product with a replacement product or provide you with a refund.
3. When warranty service involves the exchange of a product or part, subject to applicable law, the item replaced becomes the property of Samsung. The replacement may be a new or repaired item. The replacement item assumes the remaining warranty period of the original product.
Currys email of warranty to me at the time of purchase stated.
I've managed to get the free 5 year warranty raised for you. In the event of a breakdown, you will need to quote the following reference - Xxxxxx and is covered until xx/11/2025. Sadly, we don't have any T&Cs we're able to provide, as this is just an extension on Samsung's standard warranty.

Yes, I agree that OP certainly shouldn't expect any less than that but was emphasising that realistic expectations may be significantly higher - I haven't researched case law on 75" TVs but it's always highlighted on the consumer rights board that anticipated durability is influenced by manufacturer, price point, etc, so it doesn't sound unreasonable to plan on a £2750 Samsung TV lasting more than five years.QrizB said:eskbanker said:

My understanding is that the warranty is Samsung's, not Curry's and the wording "exchange ... or provide you with a refund" implies a full refund. If so, this warranty has nothing to do with s75 that makes the CC company jointly liable together with the supplier, not the manufacturer. So, I think, there are two independent options:
- warranty and full refund from the manufacturer
- CRA/s75 and partial refund from the supplier

Thank you, but I believe that the waranty is provided by Currys paticularly as they have repaired the TV themselves on 2 previous occasions.grumpy_codger said:My understanding is that the warranty is Samsung's, not Curry's and the wording "exchange ... or provide you with a refund" implies a full refund. If so, this warranty has nothing to do with s75 that makes the CC company jointly liable together with the supplier, not the manufacturer. So, I think, there are two independent options:- warranty and full refund from the manufacturer

The fact that they have stated it is just an extension of the standard Samsung waranty may be helpful though? as you stated- the Samsung waranty does refer to full refund.0 -
grumpy_codger said:At a closer look these 5 years are only for "laundry, dishwasher, refrigeration, floorcare or built-in appliance product which is listed on the following website: www.samsung.com/uk/fiveyearwarranty."More recent 5 years for TVs: https://images.samsung.com/is/content/samsung/assets/uk/offer/5-year-samsung-tv-warranty/5years_Warranty_Terms.pdf1

Another consideration for warranties is which terms apply to purchases made in 2020, as these may differ from those currently published or offered?0

However that 5 year warranty only applies to purchases between 01 April 2025 – 30 April 2026.grumpy_codger said:0 -

I would have thought it was more likely to be their own terms like the above which states that you would be entitled to a voucher for an equivalent model up to a maximum of what you paid for the original.
Looking at Curry's website their 75" Samsung start at £619 which may well be fairly close to a 5 year old TV but you'd need to compare features.0
