How do I prepare phones for trip to Ireland : Lebara & iDMobile contracts
Options
My wife and I are visiting Ireland next month and we obviously want to avoid any high bills, that sometimes get reported.
One phone is on a Lebara contract and the other on an IDmobile contract.
How do we prepare our phones for travel. We are not heavy users of data, but it's always good to be able to keep in contact with family and friends while away. WE'll use Google Maps too, to find bus / tram / train times.
thanks for any advice provided

You need to check “roaming” on your network providers web site.
The Republic of Ireland is generally included as standard on many networks.
Regarding maps, the completely free app “Organic Maps” has free maps which you can pre-download and which doesn’t use data once you have the appropriate map(s). You can mark items of interest too, your hotel, where you parked, etc. The map covering the Spanish Valencia region includes the outline of pools and property boundaries,Ireland only has property outlines.

Lebara includes EU roaming as standard, so you don't need to worry about that one and just use it as normal as you would in the UK.
No idea about IDMobile.0 -
Both Id and Lebara will give you roaming in Eire, one thing to do with Id is to enable roaming on your account BEFORE you leave the UK, Lebara should just work.
Remember to enable roaming in your phone's settings too.0 -

On ID mobile set your spend cap at zero, you'll be sure of no high bills then1
