Delayed Luggage Compensation??

Options
Just back from holiday, and trying to deal with BA as both my Wife and I had the luggage delayed for 4 / 5 days of our 10 day Holiday.
We have travel insurance so can claim for the essentials we had to emergency purchase while away.
Does anyone know if you can claim on your insurance and also from BA as I do not feel they should get away without paying compensation for ruining half of the Holiday.
Also does anyone know if BA are liable to pay compensation for delayed luggage if not has anyone took legal action?

Kind Regards

It would be fraudulent to claim twice for the same thing, regardless of your feelings.

Best thing would be to claim from BA according to their published policy, and then, if it doesn't cover your costs, see if it's cost-effective to claim for the difference from your insurer, allowing for excesses, etc.

They are only liable for the emergency things you had to buy/ cost of laundry etc and not any "loss of enjoyment" or similar.

As has already been advised you cannot claim for the same extra pair of pants from both insurer and airline, that would be undue enrichment, basically fraud.

Did you have an excess to pay on the insurance? You could reclaim that. You must initiate a claim for delayed bags within 21 days of you having finally received the bags otherwise your are out of time.

it is frustrating yes, but if you brought replacement items (and they will be reimbursed either by BA or you insurer) then that should be that.
