Junior ISA

Options
I know as a grandparent I can’t open a JISA for my grandchildren but I can put money in once it has been opened, the question is…

If my daughter receives Universal Credit will my putting money in to her son’s JISA impact her UC payments?

Thank you.

No, once open you will be able to pay the money directly into the JISA. Your daughter will be able to control the JISA (e.g. choose the funds in a S&S JISA or shift to a different one for a better interest rate) but she has no ability to access any of the money as it does not belong to her.

I can't see how a transfer directly from grandparent account to child account (where it's inaccessible until 18) could affect UC payments to the parent.
