Switch to Vodafone of landline and broadband

Options
Supposed to switch my landline and broadband to Vodafone on 24 June. Broadband was activated and told I had to switch to digital phone, this I still don't have. Firstly I was told my previous supplier had not provided them with my phone number (I wanted to keep my original one - lots of reasons), and then when that was done, it still wasn't working as had got 'stuck' in Vodafone's system! Eventually they found it and was given one date, then another, and still not working. I can now phone out, but I use my mobile for calls it's cheaper, but still can't dial in, which was why I kept it! They've told me I won't receive the automatic compensation because the broadband is working and the phone is now working off that! They've offered me a small £25 compensation for the inconvenience of the many hours I've spent trying to get some information. I don't think this is right but they say they are. Anyone help?

Difficult to say , your broadband and outgoing telephone service are working , only the incoming service isn’t , and although the phone number is important to you for incoming service, most providers put in the T&C’s that no number is guaranteed and best efforts are made to get you the required number , but ultimately they could provide you with any random telephone number that will work for incoming calls if you say incoming calls are essential , you then have the problem of advising anyone who may call the old number to start using the new one ….
FWIW , I’m not saying VF are right , but expecting full compensation when 2/3rds of the service is working is probably not realistic and that assumes broadband, incoming and outgoing calls have  equal weight or importance …..but they don’t , broadband is the primary product the other is secondary …I’d guess eventually it will be a take it or leave it type of goodwill offer they will make and you will have to accept it , or look to change provider .
