Wat would be the best course of action?
Do nothing unless you move or get a court claim

Just updating this thread, to ask what to do next.

Having received a second letter about the parking fine of my original post, today I have received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus telling me i have three options:
    1: Pay £170
2: Pay £42.50 per month over 4 months
3: Fail to pay and your financial loss will increase significantly if your case goes to court and you are unsuccessful

What is my course of action now?

It's not a fine - private companies cannot issue fines.
A general rule is not to identify yourself as the driver, but rather keep things as "the keeper" (but not "the keeper parked"!).
The "financial loss" threats are harrassment and if the wording was "your financial loss will increase significantly if your case goes to court and you are unsuccessful" then it is a bit of a porkie: it would depend upon you losing in court AND refusing to pay.
The "appeal" process is part of a dance which you will almost certainly lose (the "appeals" body is run by the parking companies).
Don't be tempted to think: i. you are dealing with an authority, and ii. the company cares about anything other than getting your money.

I thought that might be the case just wanted to check in to make sure I didn't need to do anything now I've had this debt recovery letter. I shall continue to do nothing with it.  :)

It certainly feels a lot like harassment and threats to get one to pay up. That is the actual wording from the letter re the financial loss increasing!

I've received three further letters from Debt Recovery plus now.

One telling me that by not making payment they no longer see my actions as an oversight and now consider non-payment as an active choice and again showing that the cost can increase if I don't take action,

A second  telling me I "must pay what you owe now to stop us taking further action" and then mentioning that "residents of POSTCODE pay parking charges like yours within 28 days or appeal. We will be checking how long it takes you to pay"

This one came along with a red headed sheet entitled Terminal Notice Pre-Legal Action which mentioned it would be handed over to their legal team. Again it mentioned lack of response as an oversight now being treated as an active choice. It also had a check list of items, such as "Is there clear evidence of a breach of the contract?  Yes"

The third letter is an "Urgent reminder -  pay by 04.11.2025 or a CCJ can be issued against you" and a graphic showing that they are current seeking pre-legal Resolution and that legal action is "imminent"

If I'm reading the newbies thread correctly (which to be honest is not exactly easy, it's a messy thread in many ways), I simply ignore these ones again?

Debt Recovery Plus are devious low life halfwitted liars that bend the truth to bully people.
"must pay what you owe now to stop us taking further action"
and the action they will take..........they will give up!
"residents of POSTCODE pay parking charges like yours within 28 days or appeal".
So what you are not such a mug!
Terminal Notice Pre-Legal Action which mentioned it would be handed over to their legal team.
Pure fabrication, they will not be handing over to anyone but back to the parking operator when they give up!
"We will be checking how long it takes you to pay"
Childish and laughable threat leading to..........nowhere!
"Is there clear evidence of a breach of the contract?  Yes"
How would they know they just send out template letters like this in bulk they have not seen any evidence.
"Urgent reminder -  pay by 04.11.2025 or a CCJ can be issued against you"
That is just a lie and should be reported!
that they are current seeking pre-legal Resolution and that legal action is "imminent"
They are doing nothing of the sort because they cannot take any legal action as you do not have a debt with them!
The "newbies" might look like a mess but this industry is the one that has made it like that not this forum, they want it to be messy it makes people give in a pay them their ridiculous demands!
Stop worrying about these idiots you have been told time and time again they are not a threat!

Why not just search the forum for the heading on a letter and 'Debt Recovery Plus' to see them discussed to death and laughed at already?!
