    Not surprised to see OP's requirement is an edge case; trust is the real security layer in that situation, technology can only do so much if the device is unlocked.

    if the OP has a Samsung galaxy phone, they can install.the gmail app in the secure folder and it will be protected even if the phone is unlocked.

    Would that stop the other half installing it again outside the secure folder and being logged straight back in?

    no i suspect not.

    OP could have a different gmail account outside secure folder just to access play store etc keeping 'real' one for inside secure folder

    It is quite sweet, though, that the OP is going to all the effort to plan a really nice surprise for their partner so wants to keep the risk of the wonderful event being accidentally slipped in advance.

    Let's hope the OP's partner is an equal old romantic and does similar for the OP.

    Not sure what all this means???  And what is biometric info? We share our laptop and phones, just switch on and it's ready. Not a fancy expensive device, cost about £50.
