Damning for Santander to see those documents, thank you for posting. Santander trying to mess around with the account will not work, they promised their customers free business banking forever as this material clearly demonstrates. This overrides any commercial or product considerations. Incidentally when I spoke to the complaints person there were two defences: Legal have signed it off (not worth anything) and you've had a long time of free banking (but then forever is a long time).1

N.B. (Amended from Forum Rules): You must investigate, and check several times, before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my content, as nothing I post is advice, rather it is personal opinion and is solely for discussion purposes. I research before my posts, and I never intend to share anything that is misleading, misinforming, or out of date, but don't rely on everything you read. Some of the information changes quickly, is my own opinion or may be incorrect. Verify anything you read before acting on it to protect yourself because you are responsible for any action you consequently make... DYOR, YMMV etc.4 -

I think if the Ombudsman route does not suffice, then Advertising Standards Agency and Small Claims Court will be useful here.3 -
As they are using the Business Banking General Terms and Conditions section E(14) which only allows them to make the change if they no longer offer the account type, they are breaking those conditions unless they no longer offer any Business Current Accounts, as that is the type of account!
Just because they call the present one an Everyday Current account and the replacement a Current Account - Classic doesn't make them different account types, they are still both Current Accounts.1
