Do people really think that government will get this right ??
Time in government has been a disaster damaging 1000's of people and business already. Do they actually understand the great parking scam ?

Raised this too. There's no 14 day period for motorists. PCN envelope would need to be date stamped for the 14 day period to be accurately worked out. PCN issue date is not the posting date. Either extend this 14 day period or operators mail server date stamps the envelopes.
Correct, because "Date of issue" doesn't appear in POFA Schedule 4;, it has simply been made up.

What really irks me is that car park operators seem to have more powers than the police, who appear unable to take action against even known shoplifters. I think this whole idea that you have agreed to be part of some contract just because of where you've parked your car is crazy.

It’s easy! A simple email response to the Consultation is all you need to make your views known. Absolutely no need to do the full-blown version.

Just pick out the questions you want to answer on the PDF version below, & email your response to parking@communities.gov.uk.
    https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/686be7d9a08d3a3ca3b67845/private-parking-consultation-questions.pdf

Appreciate all the time & care taken by the parking community here. But few people have the time to devote to such an esoteric Consultation.

Let’s encourage as many ordinary motorists as possible to respond by the 5th September deadline - otherwise our voices won’t be heard.
Use the email shortcut above & drown out the self-interested clamour from the private parking mafia!

Agree - they don’t understand & doubt they'll get it right either. But we’ve got to try.
I spent ages doing the last consultation in 2019: But Govt capitulated at the first signs of a legal challenge from the Private Parking Mafia - oops ‘Industry’.

I think you've missed that the MHCLG want responses using the survey portal. I do say that in my OP. Please don't tell people to email half baked responses because that's not what we want, nor do the MHCLG want to get swamped with emails.

I'm writing the question by question guidance for good reason.

Nobody should be rushing a reply, however well intentioned.

Question: how much do Private Parking operators actually have to PAY the DVLA to get Keeper addresses? And with the huge explosion in Keeper requests - what other important DVLA work is not getting done?

We all know this (£2.50) and it's not related to the Consultation questions.

Please can we stay on topic.

The Ministerial Foreword to the Consultation says quite clearly, in the section ‘How to Respond’:

“If you choose not to use the Citizen Space platform or the attached PDF questionnaire and respond via email, please clearly state which questions your responses relate to, otherwise it may not be possible to include them in the analysis when we consider and/or analyse the consultation responses.”
    https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/private-parking-code-of-practice/private-parking-code-of-practice

Do your personal wishes override the Minister’s instructions? No one is obliged to use the portal Citizen Space - even if that’s what MHCLG (or you) want.
And what makes you say the non-portal responses will be “half-baked”? Are those responses any less important than yours?

Insisting people use the portal is self-defeating. Many will take one look & just give up!
It’s dauntingly long, complex & much of it is irrelevant to ordinary mortals & motorists.

Surely what we all want is the voice of motorists & PPC victims to be heard?
Let’s just work together to get as many responses from motorists as possible - however people choose to send them!

On the contrary - the Consultation questions themselves, plus Annex B & the Options Assessments all contain a lot of analysis of private parking operator costs & charges. Keeper Fee is one such cost. So it’s good to know that when answering the questions. And no - we don’t all know how much it is! But thanks for clarifying anyway.

Please - can the experts just stoop down a little to understand & help us mere mortals? Surely we all want the same outcome?
