Is the quality of traditional voice calls (not using WhatsApp) on all UK networks worse than it was 10 years ago no matter where you are . . .

Personally, I would say it is better overall.0

Are you on a business account or personal?0

Ten years ago, it was standard to use landlines. Call quality was always higher than on mobile networks. Sadly, mobile 'phones have become almost standard since then, but call quality has yet to match the standard set by landlines.

I find that call quality is variable, mobile or landline can be very good. I have a friend who insists on using WhatsApp which is awful. Of course that may be him or his phone.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

WhatsApp call quality is better than traditional voice calls. However, why has call quality dropped so much. It surely negates the reason for having a mobile phone as a prime reason to converse?0

Historically, 10-15 years ago I opted to use mobile phone over landline and the call quality was on par with landlines for me. However, now, in the UK it is appalling. I have lived in other countries where the call quality was *amazing*. What is the point of having a mobile phone today?0

This is not true HD Voice (which mobiles have had for years) and it's successors has significantly wider bandwidth than landlines so you get a wider frequency response.Voyager2002 said:Ten years ago, it was standard to use landlines. Ah, "commercial speech", 300-3400Hz. I remember it well.PHK said:

Agreed. When I was on T-Mobile (as was) many moons ago it was actually quite amusing how many calls, when I called from it, would include the following type of exchange:
Callee; Are you on a landline?
Me; No, why?
Callee; Oh, it's just this is a really clear line.1
