In the end I managed to get this delivered to the neighbour while I was away.0

Amazon drivers give you about a nano second before they leave and move on. If you're a Prime member their customer service isn't too bad though - I've contacted via live chat when I've had a similar experience and they did get my parcel to me the next day.0
