I left Transparent Telecom in November 2024 to go to EE., before I left I requested a returns bag to return Transparent’s equipment but none arrived.
I’d received their final account in March 2025 and my account is closed.
I still have Transparent’s equipment so I emailed them to requested a pre paid returns bag. I received a bag in the post with a letter from Premier Talk - not Transparent Telecom without postage added. The letter says that they’ll refund the postage back on my account.
I emailed back asking for a pre paid bag (it’s quite a lot of equipment that’s needs to be returned) explaining that I have no account with Premier Talk/Transparent Telecom so postage can’t be refunded to me.
I told them that if I didn’t received a postage paid bag by end of July 2025 the equipment will be disposed of.
I’ve now had another email saying that if the equipment is damaged or disposed of I would be charged £49.99 plus vat, Pemiertalk cannot send a prepaid bag but that they ‘would be happy to refund the amount into your bank as the account is no longer open with ourselves to apply a credit’.
I’ve emailed back to Premiertalk saying that I’m a pensioner on a restricted income and can’t afford the postage nor the £49.99 plus vat charge and will keep the equipment. I’m reluctant to pay postage for this equipment (£20 +) as my account is closed and I may not get a refund.
The point of me contacting Transparent Telecom (now PremierTalk) was to return the large amount of equipment that is taking up space in my home but I can’t dispose of it nor can I send it back without incurring costs that I may not get back.
I’ve looked at the T&C’s for Transparent and there a paragraph about equipment being rented but nothing about charges for non return.
Any help or advice would be appreciated

As long as you have not cancelled the DD or how you paid them then the refund should go into that bank account.
Try a parcel search site for cost of sending the large amount of stuff back to them.
Look at Royal Mail for a start.
They(Transparent)should send a return label/package as if it gets lost or damage then it's down to them.
As they may charge you a few for non return I would look at my credit file on all credit ref agencies asap incase they put a default on your file.

That’s the point Transparent have sent a plastic bag with a return label but I have to bear the cost and I have no way of forcing them to refund me. It’s going to be £20 for me to send ut back to them.0

Your choice but I know which one I would choose.0 -
As it was you that initiated this , presumably if you hadn’t contacted them about returning the equipment, they would not be interested, or if at some point they were , they would have a more robust method of return …personally I’d simply continue as you are , you have their equipment, and when they see fit to ask for its return, and enable that process to be cost free you will return it , until then leave it in the loft , shed , cupboard, under the bed, or wherever it currently is gathering dust, and forget about it , if they aren’t worried about its return why should you worry , but if it is a problem for you ( although I can’t see see why ) , you would need to pay the postage costs and hope they refund you0
