Virgin broadband renewal

Hi all. As expected, our Virgin Broadband monthly payments are going up astronomically when our deal expires in a couple of months. Does anyone know if it's worth haggling with them or should I not waste my time and go elsewhere? Any advice welcomed. Thanks.

Have you logged on to your account to see what the computer generated offer is (it might be too early)? Ours was 70% of the new price but we negotiated down to just over 50% with an agent. Could possibly have got more if we went through cancellations but we are limited in options here.

We have to do this pretty much every year, as we do not have any other provider that provides ultra fast BB.  We can threaten to go elsewhere but if they called our bluff we'd have to go back to 30mb/sec which is 10% of our current speed.

Our last renewal was £69.99 but we managed to get it down to £54.  You can go through to cancellations and they will cancel and then probably ring you up in a few days when you've already taken out a contract with someone else.  Or if you're lucky (and haven't yet reached the end of the contract) they might ring back with an offer to sign you up on a new customer contract.  

If you CAN go elsewhere, then I probably would if it's a substantial saving, and if you are prepared to potentially wait for a new router to be delivered and/or installed
