Car commission reclaim - Law firm (can i get rid!)

Options
Hi,  i started a claim using a 3rd party Law Firm probably a year or two ago.  At the time I didnt know how to do this myself.  Is there a way I can complete the claim myself and get rid of the Law Firm?  I don't want them to get a 40% cut for something I can do myself.

You tell them you want to cancel and pay them the time they have worked today, you'll have agreed how many hundred an hour it is for billable work when you signed up.

It's probably best to just continue with the law firm at this point.

If you cancel, they will likely bill you for any work done on your case up to this point.  You should email them and ask for a copy of the terms and conditions and this will explain how their costs are calculated.
Any bill they produce will basically mean that any money you get from the claim would be cancelled out - or worse - you might be in the red.

In a lot of commissions disclosures, consumers are generally finding that a lot of these cases are only worth between £500 to £1000 - and it's likely that any law firm cancellation bill would cancel that out.  Whereas if you stay with them they'll take their 40% + VAT and you'll walk away with your 52%.

Furthermore, there is no guarentee that the FCA will introduce a redress scheme - or that such a scheme would maximise the amount of compensation that you would be able to get from finance providers for commissions complaints.  A law firm will understand the ins and outs of this developing area of law better and may also provide you with alternative claim routes not covered by the FCA's ongoing commissions investigation, which could actually lead to you getting a lot more compensation.  Affordability complaints are for good examples of this - cases completely unrelated to commissions getting massive payouts, and a law firm will know exactly how to prove that and guide you with regards to what evidence they need to provei it.  (Obviously, you can do these yourself, but a greedy law firm/cmc will likely get a much better outcome for you in terms of compensation - sure they'll take a big cut of this too, but you'll get a lot more than you would with a commissions case)

Some finance agreements may have actually not had any commissions paid - so if this is the case the law firm can't bill you after December as they will have taken out an insurance policy to ensure that the claim is "no-win no fee".
