Unable to get a refund

I booked a property in Kingston Upon Thames for 1 night but upon arrival it was apparent that this was a scam.  I paid £212.68 for the booking but was unable to contact the accommodation owner.  I have e-mailed booking.com on 11 occasions plus contacted them via telephone 3 times but they just keep fobbing me off.  They stated they had credited my account with £38 which is untrue as no money has been received by my bank.  The last conversation I had with customer service who stated that the accommodation is under investigation as they believe it is a scam property.  But I do not see why I have to wait until the outcome of this to get my money back.  Please help!
