Missold car finance_BlackHorse Finance

Options
I applied to Black Horse Finance regarding possible claim for missold car finance in March 25 using MSE's letter template. Since the automatic acknowledgement email I have received 4 identical emails at about 28 day intervals saying how busy they and they'll get back to me in 28 days time. None of the emails acknowledges my original claim nor any of the earlier emails, as if they are just being churned out on autopilot. I've emailed them again, pointing this out, asking for some more detail re progress of my claim. Guess what, the autoreply is identical to their first one, as if I have only just submitted a claim.
Has anyone here been continually been fobbed off like this? Has anyone found someone to complain to and got a better explanation rather than the same old same old?

    That is to be expected.

Why are you chasing progress when you know there won't be any?  (I am assuming you read the article here before sending the template)

you are not being fobbed off.

No.  The FCA suspended the complaints process on motor finance back in January 2024 and extended the delay in July 2024.   In May 2025 the FCA said it was going to consult on a redress scheme instead of using the complaints process once the courts have made their ruling.

So, at the point you complained, you already knew the complaints process was suspended (March 2025 you say you made it and the article covered the suspension).

You just need to be patient and wait.  First, to see what the courts decide, and then to wait for the FCA consultation on what to do next.  Things will likely start moving over 2026 and 2027.  Redress schemes often rnd for many years.  Sometimes a decade.  So, patience will be needed.

In what way was it mis-sold?
  • Thanks for the advice. I obviously wasn't as clued up as some of you. However, the fact that they can't be bothered to address or avoid mentioning any of these points in their monthly email just shows what a bunch of **** they really are.

Money Saving Expert keeps an updated article on the topic. Nothing has changed for a very long time......

Due to the pause put in place by the Financial Conduct Authority, finance providers are not required to provide final responses for commissions complaints until after the 4th of December 2025.  You will receive a response after that point.

And that guidance itself has been replaced.  In March 2025, the FCA said they would likely consult on a section 404 industry wide consumer redress scheme with the expectation that the final rules would be known in 2026.

Redress schemes themselves often take years to result in refunds.

I thought that was just for the redress scheme being brought into place, and the 4th of December is still in place as the date when the pause on complaints ends?

If the redress scheme proceeds, all complaints will likely be cancelled on the basis that a logged complaint becomes an opt-in to the redress scheme.

As it stands, the Dec 2025 complaints date still stands, but the redress scheme should supersede it.
