I have walnut trees popping up in random places. Don't know of any mature walnuts close by, so assume a squirrel has been burying his nuts and then forgetting about them.
I have tens of walnut trees growing in my garden due to squirrels. Feels a shame digging them all up as 'weeds' but I don't really want to convert my garden into a forest !

We get the same. There's a walnut tree in the pub garden behind us. I must have pulled up at least 20 this year. Does anybody ever see squirrels actually retrieving the things they've buried?

We have 3 squirrels that frequently visit our garden, yes I know they're cute but they are causing damage to many of our smaller plants.
I've tried the chilli and other plants options to deter them but with no great success. Has anyone any suggestions how to tackle this problem?  Are Ultrasonic repellents worth trying?

Look forward to your suggestions / experiences
What damage are they causing & to what plants?
I've seen up to 4 grey squirrels at a time in our garden - the only plants I've noticed them take an interest in have been sunflowers (eating the seeds)
Any new plant is subjected to squirrel attack and even some small established plants. New rose growth is eaten and bird feeders are destroyed.

    I know what they do.
They wait for my apples to ripen then remove any deterrent I've put in place and take the whole lot in one go😬

Frome the numbe rof pigeons, magpies and crows around here they donlt eat their eggs.

Maybe the discarded sandwiches and pizzas keep them satisfied.
I once saw a squirrel bury a slice of pizza in our hanging flower basket!

yes, I have seen one  dig up nuts  buried in my raised bed.

However, it generally accepted that they do not remember where they buried something,  but dig up something they have scented, probably buried by another squirrel.

One ate the bulbs I had dumped in a pot that had not been planted..
