Toyota say they can’t find any details of an agreement I had with them even though I sent a copy of the agreement I have in my file, they say because of data protection they can’t keep them too long! they now say that this is the matter closed but I have 30 days to contact the ombudsman. Should I?

You need to be a bit more patient and wait for the court case outcomes and then the FCA consultation which will include what happens next and how it will be done.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

It's inevitable the FCA is going to have found many cases where data is simply no longer available and inevitably they will have to give guidance on what they expect to happen in those cases. The FCA have said they will put out a proposal within 6 weeks of the Supreme Court ruling and anticipate that if there is to be any redress that it will start in 2026.0
