Hi, I'm looking for a budget android tablet for my dad. His budget is up to £150 and he wants one with about an 8 inch screen. He only does basic browsing and watching the odd youtube video.
I'm thinking about either the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 or one of the Lenovo tablets in Argos - either the M8 or M9. Just wondered if anyone can give me advice about which one to go for? Or any other suggestions. Thanks alot

How funny, those two tablets are exactly the ones I was going to suggest.
Personally I'd go for the A9, I've used both and the M8 feels a bit sluggish (which is to be expected as the A9 has better specs) - I use it for trade shows at work.
The A9 also has a slightly bigger screen than the M8 (8.7") and double the processing power/RAM and is priced well.
If he's older (60's/70's+) I'd consider a bigger screen as 8" can feel small.

Best pop into CEX and try out a few models. You can get second hand Apple, Windows or Android tablets for £150. If he just wants it for the content consumption, then best get a 6th gen iPad.0

Yeah, he's looking for an 8 inch android tablet. He wouldn't want to spend time getting used to a different operating system.0

Both of those tablets are good options - I was recently browsing for myself and they were the two that came up.
Argos are quite keen on pricing for tablets, but I think it is always worth checking John Lewis - they sometimes have short-lived offers and / or good priced "open box" products if you can get to one of their stores to look at the clearance shelves. Clearance shelves at JL can be hit and miss.0 -
I bought a Samsung tablet from Argos earlier in the year and they had a 20% off offer at the time, which I think is something that they do periodically, so maybe worth keeping an eye on their website.

I have the 11 inch version of this and it's great, will easily cope with your requirements

One thing to think about is potentially the Amazon Fire Tablets offer great value for money, it is a fork of Android, but the UI is very similar, however it is not quite the same, so subjective.0

I would consider spending the £10 extra on the LTE version of whichever you choose.
