Morning all, thanks Scarlet.Belated birthday greetings Derek.A very grey start to the day and dropped to 17 deg atm. We didn;t reach the temps some of you got yesterday, mid 20's mainly but the car said it was 30 when we went for DGS but it had been parked in the sun and is black- and the air con doesn't work! Phew. We don't go for him on Tuesdays so the day is our own so not sure if we'll go out.Meat balls for tea with garlic bread. I was looking for something that didn't involve chicken as we seem to have had it in various guises for the last few days,Right, better go and have a tidy and I want to get some washing in too,Have a good day all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Hi everyone and happy birthday for the other day Derek.
I didn't find yesterday unbearable because it was quite a dry heat, it's the humidity which does me in.
I've got Esther today, we usually go to the library and it's got air conditioning so I think we'll still do that.
I've got a ys chicken cooking to have tonight, probably to have with egg fried rice. Brian has been in Istanbul the last couple of days but will be back late tonight.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning everyone
After the heat of yesterday, we seem to be back to normal today - 15 degrees and rain.
I'll do the ironing that didn't get done yesterday, before work and have monthly admin stuff to do too.
I watched the penultimate episode of The Handmaids Tale last night, does anyone else watch it? It was an excellent episode.
I'm going to get started on my jobs, hope you all have a good day today x

Morning all, thanks @Scarlet for today's start and a Happy Belated Birthday to Derek. There's a lot of high cloud around this morning with temperatures set to be in the low 20s and light showers from early afternoon. I might just go stand outside in the rain if that happens!
I didn't do much yesterday but I wasn't completely idle as I managed to clear a bit of pathway through the "jungle" on and around the patio. Two planters emptied, one to be cleaned and re-used, the other binned as there was a very large hole on the side near the bottom. Although I was on the shady side of the building and there was a light breeze, 30 minutes was all I could manage as it was so hot. I think little and often may be the way to go.
Another birthday girl here today (76, another year nearer to 80), shared with Princess Diana, Pamela Anderson (she of Baywatch fame), Debbie Harry (Blondie), Dan Aykroyd and Leslie Caron, to name just a few. Do you share your birthday with any celebrities? I've nothing special planned for today but there are plans afoot for a joint BBQ with DS in a couple of weeks' time as it will be his birthday soon too.
Despite being up early, I haven't eaten yet (too tired, too hot etc) so it looks like another brunch day once I can decide what to have. Tea on the other hand is decided - roasted red pepper/onion/mushrooms with halloumi sticks and side salad. The extra 2 kg of weight I've put on is stubbornly refusing to shift and, although it doesn't sound a lot, the practice nurse won't be impressed at my annual review that's due anytime now.
@Coxy - Fingers crossed all goes well at your appointment today.
@TTB - Good luck in your job search, not an ideal situation but at least you've made a decision now.
Have a good day all, take care, hugs as usual. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -

Happy birthday yorkslass
it was indeed a sweaty night wasn’t it?
Well, the first of the month and the amount spent already is shocking. Had a couple unsuspecting things come out of the bank
and then I did my food shop.
Famous last words
In old style fashion though, I have budgeted and am getting together my meal plan. So determined to be within the Grocery challenge this month.
Also done my planner this morning.
I broke my coccyx 2 weeks ago, trying to figure out if i can make it to the post office to return a parcel and pick up a provisional license form for Ds1.
It might be a bit far of a walk to manage.I might get some bread on the go today! Since the temperatures are good for the dough rising and it’ll stop the constant back and forth to the corner shop.Thankfully not as hot as yesterday! Looks quite overcast here.GC August 🍑🥞 £172.83/£600

Morning all! Feels like afternoon already. Been up early and cut the grass at the allotment before it got too hot [it was too hot yesterday to do anything in the end but I did meet my sister for a coffee who was doing a flying visit for work] then came back, had breakfast, and then attached the guttering to the shed, being as I finally found where I'd put down the clips. It's very Heath but it'll do for now, which means as long as it works, it'll never be changed
Made meatballs last night so same again tonight, going to look for a zucchine recipe where they're sliced thinly lengthways...Low carbing so no potatoes etc, well, when they zucchine start producing at least I can use them all up instead of trying to force them on people
Happy Birthday Yorkslass, another successful trip around the sun! Izzy, sounds lovely, we went to Ogmore with the orchestra, Germany sounds a lot more fun! snoozer, hope you're better now...remmie, I like your style, go shopping in airconTTB, have you looked at the grocery threads that are stickies on this board? There's a vegan thread too somewhere. camelot, well done on your community spirit! Take care all and remember, if it gets too too hot, set a tea towel stick it round your neck and put your feet in a bowl of cold water.
