Fuse holder wont go back in

Hello all,  I blew the 30A fuse on my domestic plugs, to make sure it was the fuse I pulled the 30A fuse from neighbouring holder and now the fuse holder for the fuse I pulled wont go back into place even though I have a fuse in the slot. Any ideas anyone?

    Photos, please.
Good, clear, closeups of both the socket and the fuse.
'Domestic plug'? You mean a 13A fuse?

It is my domestic fuse box with slots that pull out to hold 30a 15a etc. Everything is working except I cant get the slot that holds a 30a fuse for my garage to go back in. Same make as this one:

A photo would help, but the pins on fuseholders are typically off-centre, so the fuseholder will only go in fully if they are the right way up.  Make sure you aren't trying to fit it upside down.

I didn't actually remove it, just pulled it out to remove the fuse. I have tried pushing it back in at slightly different angles but no joy.

This is the actual fuse box, that is as far as I can get it to push back in. Something behind seems to be stopping it going in and can see holder pulling to one side

It could be the contacts have been damaged so the upper fuse carrier pin can't go where it should.

Can you do a close-up photo with the carrier completely removed?

Bear in mind the pins of a partially inserted carrier could be live, as well as the contacts.  Don't start poking anything in the holes.  The isolator should be turned off before removing or inserting a fuse carrier, but don't rely on that to make the contacts safe.

Going to turn power off later and get a closer look at it, but the holder that won't go in is two away from the fuse that had the issue.

Do you know what caused the fuse to blow? Do you have a secondary consumer unit in the garage?

A loose wire in an extension lead which was plugged in to a circuit breaker at the socket. Thought it had just thrown the trip but had blown the 30A fuse in my domestic plugs, so I pulled the 30A fuse out of garage socket to double check that it was the fuse but now I cant get the garage socket back in.
