How to prevent payment being removed from my Halifax debit account

  • Thanks folks, I`ll report back with the outcome.
I do a lot of comping-`gambling`, so lost track with this one. I`ve just found that I`d cancelled my sub with my primary email address last year. That`s the account with no entries shown against payment taken.
Such was the pull of those lovely houses/prizes, I subbed via a 2ndary email address 8 months later, which I couldn`t access until I`d gone into passwords & deleted the one associated with the original account, then cleared my history & then I was able to access the 2nd account. I had visions of having to change my IP address....
Omaze sub now cancelled, so will see if they remove funds on Tues. There was me thinking Mon was the 1st July...duh!
Thanks again everyone for your input, it is much appreciated.

If money was taken and then not used for the correct purpose, you can dispute any transactions made in the last 120 days.

Not without proof of what it being used for.

Sounds like a very unhealthy habit that you can't afford.

Are these websites a new form of addiction?

It appears so to me. They've only really caught my attention in the last year or so. Seem to be heavily promoted through social media. There are a few that are based reasonably close to me, and people at work become very enthusiastic about them. They have charismatic people running them, with a lot of hype, such as live draws.

It doesn't help, because of the local community aspect, that people often know, or know of, winners. Some people have won major prizes more than once. I've often wondered how much they are staking.....
