The active company is still called MEPM (JR), this is the acronym that appears on all letterheads and emails. I mentioned that it was confusing, because the owner had officially dissolved the company bearing this name.
Clarity and transparency are essential in a contractor, and, in MEPM's case, both are lacking. For example, when you check your contractor's name on the Company House, you can reasonably expect it to be listed as "active", not "dissolved."
I did not examine the situation at a legal level, and I didn't claim that MEPM was trading unlawfully. I said, however, that their whole data trail is confusing and obscure. In addition to a cryptic website which doesn't list team names, or client testimonials, or case studies, this company doesn't have a Google profile, making it impossible for customers to leave a public review.
I reiterate my previous points about MEPM's lack of basic knowledge pertaining to the business, and about unacceptable way of interacting with the clients.
Thank you for the discussion. You have only given one example of actual poor behaviour, ie the discussion on flytipping so it is a bit difficult to pass further comment. In my view the naming discrepancies are easily explained by the lazy use of an acronym instead of the full name of the active company. Furthermore there is absolutely no requirement to have a website or any other online presence and that alone does not indicate any lack of professionalism.0 -

They are regulated by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority). It would be possible to make a complaint about them there, but I can't see any way to post a public review through them. Companies registered with the FCA have to have a complaint process. The MEPM (Jr) website does not seem to have any information on a complaints process. If you complain to a firm and are not satisifed, then you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman. However, I have no idea if the business you are doing with the company falls under the types of permissions that they have from the FCA (which seems to be about recommending insurance). Hence, I'm not sure if a complaint would work for you.
And, of course, you want to leave a bad review rather than make a complaint.0 -
