Glad it all worked out @Ping777

We accidentally were traversing the entirety of France on a black traffic day this year and it was worth every penny, the queues at some of the péages (near Lyon especially) were huge.

The cost @cantbelieveit23 is 1E90 per calendar month it's in use plus the normal toll cost, a small price to pay for the peace and harmony it's afforded us.

We would find our Starling cards would often not be recognised and also DH has a habit of stopping too far from the machine so I'd have to try and get out etc etc.

Plus it feels like magic and wizardry

Hi cantbelieveit23.   I do like the sound of twice yearly and leisurely trips to Spain! For the type of trip you’ve described, I don’t think I’d feel the need to have a gadget.  The main benefits are convenience and speed, and yes you do have to pay a small fee to get the device in the first place.  Further fees are the toll fees themselves.  Whether it’s worth it or not… it does depend on how much you’re in a hurry, how much patience you have and also if you have enough time to travel as far as you’d like to go, and also probably whether you’re travelling for work or leisure.  For example, if you have 2 weeks’ holiday and want to travel to the south of France from the UK during peak summer holiday times, you might want to get to your destination as speedily as you can (perhaps using the toll roads).  The péages are often absolutely rammed during the peak of summer but the electronic sensor device allows you to “fast track” through them.

Regarding which gadget provider, the Tolltickets device works beautifully but their customer service is appalling (and this is the company with whom I’ve had a problem - now resolved).  This year I’ve used Bip&Go and I’ve been delighted with it so far.  The billing system is clearer and simpler.
