Good for you. But make sure you have a spare battery. When it runs out 'the voice' tells you, every minute .... and does not shut up until you replace it. It's a bit like having the OH strapped to the ceiling!
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

My DH is a british gas engineer and sell them to customers at £38 the same one a british gas website sells for £22.99 http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/energy/gas-safety/carbon-monoxide.html

Wonder why is that and whether it will make any difference if we complained of the high price. Hubby did pay ours for £38.
  • I know my DH is embarrased when customers tell him they have seen it alot cheaper on BG website.

I had an engineer round from Transco once when we thought our landlords boiler was producing carbon monoxide. He said the detectors that change colour are useless and dangerous, because they can often fail to work and you might not notice them in time. He said to always get a proper electronic one.

There are a variety here (which you might be able to get cheaper elsewhere but will give you an idea of what to look for): http://www.safelincs.co.uk/section.php?xSec=42

I got the Kiddie 900-0146-UK which is great because it tells you the actual levels in parts per billion, so you can see if you might have a problem or not before it gets dangerous and the alarm goes off.
