Transfer from Cash ISA to Lifetime ISA in current tax year

Options
I added the full allowance of £20k to my Cash ISA with one provider in the current tax year. I thought I could later move £4k of that to my Lifetime ISA with another provider, but when I tried the Cash ISA provider blocked it. They say “Unfortunately, we are not able to proceed with this request because the customer has requested £4000.00 from current tax year subscriptions, however we are unable to split current year subscriptions”. Did I make a mistake such that I cannot get the bonus (£4k->£5k) with Lifetime ISA this year? Is there any way to ameliorate this? Or are they making it hard unnecessarily?

Would be grateful for any insights!

Providers are only required to support full ISA transfers, so your only option in this case would be to find one that will allow a partial transfer of current year funds and transfer everything to them first.
