Numbersup said:wombl 194 , the purchases were all with BG originally. I dont remember actually giving back certificates , but its possible I might have signed for them to keep them if given the option. Ill look back.
I maybe should have added---- although I cant imagine it makes a difference to the mechanics of working out the 'sums' and I was trying to keep things brief , that although the SMT holding is accessed under my account umbrella so to speak, it has its separate acc no. and its held in trust for a grandchild. If I recall when HL took over there was an agreement to hold the charges the same as BG's for the first year or so ,so its even stranger if the charges look high . ( its not in an isa .) Oh, just realised perhaps you dont mean running charges , what charges are you referring to -- and did someone give what number to HL?
From the data you've provided it looks high to me - see my post above for my estimate ex reinvested dividends. These figures are usually fairly reliable when *ALL* trades have been on the same platform but when shares have been transferred in, as yours were from Baillie Gifford, they're often incorrect and need to be checked.
Other posters have given you the means to calculate the gain but what I'm getting at is that this calculation won't be correct until you understand what the shares actually cost.2
