Lost property reclaim EasyJet/AirlineLostProperty/1stFlight

I left an item on an EasyJet plane and reported it lost at airlinelostproperty dot com. I've now received an email inviting me to send £30 by bank transfer in order to have the item couriered to me. I tried to enquire about card payment instead in the online chat at firstflight.whoson.com/chat/?domain=www.airlinelostproperty dot com but it is never manned. The only possible means of contact is by email and the emails themselves look unprofessional with bad layout, mixed fonts etc. I have proved my ownership of the item, but they have sent me no proof that they actually hold it (eg, a photo). I do really want the item back but there are so many warning signs. I'd love to hear from anyone who has had a good outcome from this company.

Easyjet have a page on their sitewhich explains their procedures and gives contact details for each airport that they serve. Is the site you've mentioned something you've found online? Possibly it's a third party who charge more than going direct to EJ.

Presumably you were directed to airlinelostproperty.com by Easyjet, rather than you clicking on a link after a Google search?
Are you trying online chat when they are open Mon-Fri 10am to 2pm BST?
The cost to recover does seem about right.
Their website does not indicate that they accept debit/credit card payments. Perhaps to keep overheads low the business has decided only to take bank transfer payments.0 -

The website is shocking and I would strongly suspect is purely speculative on trying to catch out people that dont know better. I would be highly surprised if you say you were told to use them by Easyjet. Their own website directs you to https://mybag.aero/baggage/#/pax/easyjet/en-gb/contact-airline which is a vastly more professionalWestin said:Presumably you were directed to airlinelostproperty.com by Easyjet, rather than you clicking on a link after a Google search?0 -
First Flight (www.1stflight.co.uk) are indeed linked by easyJet as their lost property agent at LTN, LGW and STN.
The First Flight website does link to airlinelostproperty.com which seems to be their claim processing portal.
The easyJet mybag.aero link above will also direct to First Flight for lost property at those airports.
So it seems to stack up. Although I can see why you may be concerned about bank transfers, especially with banks warning against them so often.0 -
@ bagand96 Thank you for checking it out and confirming I've gone down the right route. Yes, the main thing that worries me is sending a bank transfer rather than using a credit card, especially when they haven't proved they are holding the actual item. I've asked them some questions about it which, if they answer correctly, will partially reassure me but the system doesn't engender trust and excludes payment protection. I've already told EasyJet I think they should do better.0

I am happy to report that I have my lost item back thanks to 1st Flight. Despite my concerns about badly formatted emails and bank transfers, it all worked out well in the end. There was good communication by email from named members of staff with apologies for delays. I was able to ask for photos, duly provided, and when I expressed a preference to pay by card they phoned me and took payment over the phone. The item was delivered by DPD within two days. Excellent outcome, and credit where credit's due. The system works!1
