Halifax closes Savers Prize Draw

For those wondering if anyone really did ever win anything, I did, years ago. £100.
The unexpected recorded delivery letter really got my hopes up. 
The length of time the person in the Halifax branch took, phone calls and everything, also really got my hopes up. 
However, it was only the smallest prize the £100.
The whole build up ended up with me actually feeling a smidgen disappointed. (the letter says you've won a prize, but not how much)

I can totally understand your disappointment, I would have been too after that build up.

Prize Draw Rules state -    'You can get the winners' names and counties from any of our branches, within six months of the date of any Draw.'       As I had never heard of anyone winning and with total absence of any publicity, I asked at my local branch (now closed) for a list of prize draw winners, the manager said 'what prize draw'!!!!!!!!

Ditto Bank of Scotland.

Lloyds and BoS have no geographic overlap so they compliment each other; both are stronger brands too.
They could rebrand all retained Halifax branches as Lloyds or easily migrate Halifax to one or both other brands.

Maybe they will go down the multi-brand route, like HBOS did with dual-branded BoS/Halifax branches, and Lloyds did with LloydsTSB.

Lloyds TSB actually had two sister banks then too - Lloyds TSB Bank in England & Wales which is the current Lloyds Bank and Lloyds TSB Scotland in Scotland which is the current TSB Bank.

I received email about savers draw being discontinued. This was one of the reasons I kept my saving account with £5k. I’ve read in 26th June MSE email that the perks are going in reward account eg £5/cinema, reason being not many people reached it. It’s very rarely I missed it though last month I didn’t his spend. 

I have the Ultimate Reward account which I pay for. This includes everything that the reward account gets plus free holiday insurance, breakdown cover, phone insurance. I’ve had no emails about any changes to this. Nothing mentioned about my ultimate account on Halifax webpages nor emails. Anyone heard that this might change also. It may seriously make me change banks and I’ve been with them for over 20 years
