Hi there! Im hoping someone can shed some light.
I am in a pickle, I work from home and have been told by VM my property cannot get broadband as as there is no line available nor can then install one.
Open reach have been out and said the same, apart from they've said they would need to dig up the street and drill a hole in the window frame as I have slate tiles. Im renting and my landlord has been useless.
The flats in the block have virginmedia but because im up the top - apprantly, no connection can be provided.
I really dont understand why or how to approach this.
Can anyone guide me please?
Thank you

It’s not really clear what you are saying , Virgin isn’t available everywhere, so if they say No , even if that seems odd because near neighbours can get VM , not much you can do , Virgin have no obligation to provide service to anyone …..what you say about Openreach is contradictory, you say they are the same as VM , but also say you can have service but it’s not straightforward digging up the road etc , but that’s not your problem and the landlord is useless ( does this mean the landlord is stopping OR doing the work ? ) …
How old is this flat ? , are you saying this flat has never had ‘BT’ type service at anytime in the past, so no phone socket exists from a previous tenant service ?

Put your address in here and post the entire results, the only scenario I can think of is that the flat had copper pair service in the past but now has access to FTTP so copper can’t be ordered anymore , and getting FTTP requires ‘work’ that your landlord won’t allow , I would say forget VM if they say No , and order from a provider that says Yes , if that means work for Openreach that’s their problem (and your landlords ) , but if the landlord says No , then find another flat if broadband is a necessity or try mobile broadband , TBH if the landlords is not willing to allow work , nothing much can be done about that .1 -
Is a 5G mobile hub an option for you?
We had a similar issue which was down to poor line connection and the freeholder ignored VM's requests (so all buildings on our street had either Cityfibre/Hyperoptic/VM except for us!). We went for a 4G hub with Three which actually worked a lot better and faster than line-based broadband.3 -
