Is it just me or are cars getting ever uglier?

I had a Ford Puma.  Beautiful little coupe.

Then they bought out the Ford Puma (SUV-edition).  The perfect storm of pedestrian safety combined with a body shell optimised by the marketing department.

Beauty is hard to judge but they are less distinctive.

We bought the first incarnation of the Fiat Multipla - a truly excellent family car with lots of innovations, but my goodness it was not a looker. Sold for a decent amount when we got rid, so sometimes beauty and usefulness are not in step.

I can’t really judge.  I’ve always gone for practically over style, and loved my Berlingo Multispace.  I didnt want to sell it but did when it became clear that my manual driving days were over. I currently drive a Peugeot Expert Independence (Wheelchair accessible vehicle) and a Ford Focus.  My husband drives a Peugeot Partner after he crashed his Berlingo.  My brother drives a Skoda Octavia.

Its confirmation bias because we don't remember the ugly old cars (and they tend to be boring or bad ones anyway - so very few have lasted). Yet we see newer cars all the time so can't avoid them.

Two examples of ugly old cars: Austin Allegro; Ford Scorpio.

I'd say the 25 model is nicer to look at.
