They don't have to sell it to you, so 'proof' wouldn't be any use.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

I got a Sapphire ATI X1950GT graphics card yesterday reduced from £130 to £29.97 and an HP Media Vault from approx £250 to £79.97 so these items DO usually exist somewhere, but normally only IN STORE.
The reason products stay listed on search engines right down to £0.97 is that there will be a branch somewhere who's stock control system says they have one in stock, but it will either have got damaged, stolen or wasn't there in the first place.
You won't normally find these products direct from the DSG website, only via search engines due to caching.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
(Nothing personal dreamlife, just using your post to clear up a few misconceptions about so called non- existent "bargains")dreamlife99 wrote: »ive noticed somebody on another site has complained to the trading standards about this deal, and a few other 97p deals from pc world that never seem to arise
.
Slow down folks, 97p items are clearance end of line items they want to clear from their system..
So it is logical that not every store will have them, and as time progresses even fewer stores will have stock.
Ultimately only ONE store will have it, maybe in a tatty box in the back, or the store stock numbers may have at sometime been corrupted because a returned item was entered onto the system twice. Maybe some stock got nicked even
Regarding OPs "find" it is just another example of human error/ or downright lazyness by computer operators, and thus is a " Virtual Grabbit". Why the fuss and even anger, I expect it is down to the blame culture and greed society that has sadly developed in the UK
PS My computer stuff is made up of 80+% .....xx.97p items, but this requires store visits, and you cannot get that by just browsing, as Withabix knows too.
And it seems that he beat me, by editing his post whilst I spent too much time typing mine with one hand as usual!!ac's lovechild0 -
PC World love advertising non existant goods plus they also like to not honour reserved items.
I reserved an item and when I went to pick it up they told me it had been stolen!
Probably by the staff.0 -

So shoplifters do not exist? DSG are sloppy, but they cannot sell you something they dont have due to their "new"/ latest/ dodgy Microsoft based stock system ( Eclipse),saying the contrary. Which by the way the staff do not like. I think the word microsoft may give you a clue as to why stock problems occur

PC world was the first place i thought of to look.
I did do a bit of looking around on the forums after a couple of you guys said it was bogus and apparently there are a lot of these phantom items that crop up on PC world (usually ending in 97 pence)

You're letting PC World off far too lightly: the company has already been found guilty of advertising goods which do not exist - twice. Blame greedy society for encouraging them to behave in that way, of course, but don't claim that they are innocent victims of it.I expect it is down to the blame culture and greed society that has sadly developed in the UKTime is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0
