    Hi folks,

I am on the lookout for one of those Pole Saws to cut a hedge, basically a small chainsaw on a extendable pole, Lidl do them but haven't seen them in a while, where I live the Parkside one was supposed to be in stock a few months ago, but none of the local Lidl stories had any.

They cost around £40 without battery, but as I have quite a few cordless tools from Lidl that is is not a problem, I have plenty of batteries.

I do have the extendable pole hedge trimmer and ground level hedge trimmer which are pretty good, but feel adding one of the pole saws might help as well to cut branches at top of hedge.

Anyone have a Parkside one, or a similar brand and what is your opinion please?

    Many thanks for any advice.
I assume because the branches are too thick for the extendable pole hedge trimmer? How often do you foresee  using it?

We have a rather large hedge and cutting the top with a ladder (and OH holding it) isn't much fun! I keep thinking about getting an extendable one but I have heard that they can be difficult to control and this being a chore that takes place at most twice a year, it doesn't seem worth it.

I do have a couple of Parkside things and thought they are pretty good but I agree with grumpy, for the same price bracket, I would go for Screwfix's
    Titan.

The poles can be tricky.  You either have it in a comfortable position (and are below what you are cutting), or you are strong enough to brace from an angle.

    They are often used inappropriately.

I have the titan version and never use it as I find it much easier to climb steps and do the cutting.
I used to prune from a ladder until the incident with the cherry tree, the extension ladder and the chainsaw. The ladder was ruined.
Could have been worse ,your family might have been left a good ladder but a visit to the hospital for visiting or worse

Have the Bosch one only used once, right pain with the chain stretching cant even cut a 2" diameter without locking up, then have to get up there.
Ok for small stuff sub 1", hate to think what the cheap ones are like. Thankfully do have a Still and an electric chainsaw, works so much better.

I guess if you drink enough from the still, you stop caring about the hedge any more.

    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
