    Teslas don't need servicing.
Tesla say they don't. But like any car, they need maintaining.

The greater the amount of tech the more there is to go wrong.
  • Servicing EVs is a nonsense to keep the dealers happy.
£250 to kick the tyres. That’s why Kia give a 7 year warranty.
That’s one thing I applaud Tesla for, not having the BS of full service history for the warranty.

With Kia eniro it’s every 10000 miles so for someone who actually uses their car means I have to pay them to kick the tyres every 8 months and then go separately to get an MOT.

Once a year or 20k servicing would be more than enough for an EV.

There’s more ‘tech’ in ICE and hybrids vehicles to go wrong.
EVs in comparison are quite simple.

I understand brake cleaning is recommended.  The brake pads themselves will last up to 200,000 miles (because EV) so seizure due to lack of use is the bigger risk.

There is a known issue with the front upper control arm ball joint which needs some grease packing in it to solve the squeak after 100k miles - driveway job.

Only pay £179 for mine, get tyres rotated, brakes cleaned.

"Brakes cleaned" could mean many things. Quick spray with some brake cleaner or dismantle everything and rebuild. Interesting to know what they actually do. Hidden camera job.

I have palpitations at the thought of paying £179 to swap the wheels round.

I can swap the wheels round, pull the brake pads, knock the rim off the discs, clean the callipers, replace everything, wirebrush the rust off the suspension and the ferrules on the brake pipes, paint everything, replace any broken pegs on the liners, check all 4 tyres all the way round and remove any stones & flints in an afternoon for the cost of the paint.

I'd have to charge myself £50 an hour to get near that figure!
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

    Yep. Good for you 🤣🤣
My days of doing more than washing car are long over.

£179 to keep a 7 year warranty intact is worth it. MOT was in that price as well.

Cleevely to do service on drive were no cheaper.

£124 to do less than an hour's work is massively overpriced, but you are paying to keep the warranty.

I have to overpay around that for an oil & filter change on the Suzuki, because not having the dealer stamp in the book will reduce the value by more than it costs.

It still really hurts though, massively overpaying for a job I can easily do myself! (and a lot better too, as I won't spill oil everywhere and not clean it up.......)
