in relation to the First food it does say ‘features signature dishes made with quality British ingredients’ which is very subjective. It doesn’t say that they are all made in Britain’. Artistic licence!
Agree there is nothing said about "made in Britain" but let say its a Tokyo to LHR flight, you say the food will come from Tokyo... so how are they fulfilling "signature dishes made with quality British ingredients"? Are they shipping UK ingredients to Japan to be made into their meals? Do half their First flights not actually have any of their "signature dishes"? If so I'd question how signature they are.

Never flown BA First so can't comment from experience.

I do the UK-Japan route and have noticed that the Japanese food on the Japanese carriers is vastly better quality than the BA stuff. The airports are better too.

It’s an interesting point. I think that ‘British ingredients’ only really applies out of LHR and at the outstations they just “nod” towards it. However they are definitely catered at the location so whether they use local ingredients or have British ones flown out (unlikely) then I guess we’ll never know.

I did BA First to and from Mexico City last month and I don’t remember a huge difference with the meals other than the one back wasn’t as good as the one out. I’ve just looked at the menus (we don’t fly First a lot so Mrs J kept them) but I can’t see a massive difference.

Never drink tea/coffee  on flights - the water to make them comes from improperly cleaned storage tanks.  Only drink from unopened bottles/cans if you want to remain healthy. Wipe the outside with an antiseptic wipe first!
As someone involved in aviation, I can tell you this is nonsense.
Every task, even down to the absolutely minute, is scheduled and carried out with an attention to detail that is (quite frankly) both terrifying and amazing to watch.

    It's a real non-issue.

An added thought.....can people really not go without food for 3-4 hours?  Maybe it's about filling time, rather like eating, drinking and shopping in the airport, those 5 a.m. pints.  If we are flying short haul, we usually time our day around what's available in the lounge and having a good, relaxing meal at destination.  Plan B may be required if you have kids in tow!

But it's not just 3-4 hours.
We leave home for a trip to MAN allowing 2 hours travel.
We're then at the airport for at least 3 hours before the flight.
That's already 5 hours before we board so including the flight, that's at least 8 hours going 'without food'.
And that's not counting the time through immigration, luggage collection and transfer to your accommodation

I can go without food for 3-4 hours but 8-9 hours plus the rest is very different.

So in most cases you will have plenty of time before getting on the plane to eat something and not be reliant on the on plane food.
