Why not stick with the Pixel range of phones, as for transfer of apps, all you do is login with your gmail account and any apps will be there to download (or maybe they download automatically, I dont remember myself), any numbers will move with your gmail account and same with messages.

Any photos should be stored in your Google photos part of your Google drive unless you have changed it so pics dont get uploaded.

The comment I made about putting two (iPhones) close to each other, is that they transfer all the pictures and data directly from one phone to the other by Bluetooth. A new iPhone prompts you when first switching it on. I suspect Android phones have a similar facility.

In the case of my iPhone upgrades, it was very straightforward and not something that needed technical assistance. Apple stores offer free assistance to upgrade, but no idea about shops selling other makes.
But this wouldn't work Android - iPhone, lots of apps are also available on one, but not the other platform.
When setting up a new phone, both iPhone and Android offer you the option to transfer from one to the other. They give clear instructions which might involve installing an app on the donor phone. eg Move to iOS, Android Switch, Samsung Smart Switch, etc

And from iOS 26, and Android 16 you'll be able to transfer eSIM from Android to iPhone and vice versa

I've just transferred from a Samsung to a Pixel and it was pretty simple as I had a google a/c which did the heavy lifting.

I find the Pixel much better, don't miss Samsung bloat which can be annoying

    I absolutely agree.

Also look at Fairphone which are designed to be self repairable.
