  • Thank you. A quick question - when I send the template to DCB Legal, do I go to their website which they have sent a hyperlink to on their letter to complete the reply form, or shall I simply send the template to their generic email address which is stated on top of their letter?

    Use the email.
  • One final question from me before I send the email to DCBL. The v5 hasn’t been updated so is it worth continuing to defend this matter, or would it be wise for me to simply pay the £170 charge and call it a day (to avoid the £1000 fine mentioned in earlier posts)?
I am selling the car this week anyway by the way.

The V5 is totally irrelevant to this.

would it be wise for me to simply pay the £170 charge and call it a day (to avoid the £1000 fine mentioned in earlier posts)?
    Wow, STOP! You have misunderstood!

The £1000 was a real fine you were risking from the DVLA all these years. You are selling the car so nothing will happen as long as (Google it) you fill in the V5C sale details to ensure that the DVLA note that the car is sold.

NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SCAM.

Of course it wouldn't be wise to pay a scam which is totally unconnected and will cost you nothing to see off.

  • Haha okay understood! I will complete it correctly don’t worry. That settles it - I will send the email to DCBL today. Thanks a lot for your help all.
  • Hi all. I now received the below response from DCB. Do I just ignore it as I can’t see any other responses in other forums and wait for them to possibly commence proceedings? Or do I need to reply to this?

I still haven’t even received an original charge notice and PALS at both local NHS trusts say they know nothing about this so didn’t get anywhere on that front.

We write in response to your correspondence received in our office dated [redacted].    We now respond to the same as follows.   When parking on private land, the contractual terms of the site are set out on the signs. You are entering a contract and agreeing to the terms by parking and staying on the site. Parking in breach of the terms as stipulated on the signage means that you are then breaking the terms of the contract. The parking charge sum is for the breach in the terms and conditions as displayed on the signage.    In accordance with the British Parking Association (BPA) Code of Practice, where the Parking Charge (PC) becomes overdue and before Court proceedings have commenced, a reasonable sum may be added for the debt recovery fees. The correct recovery fees have been added and will not be removed. As such, the outstanding balance of £140.00 remains payable to prevent further action. The HMRC ‘VAT Supply and Consideration manual’ (VATSC06140), confirmed that parking charge falls out of the scope of VAT.   You now have 30 days from the date of this email to make payment of £140.00. Failure to make payment will result in a Claim being issued against you without any further reference.   Payment can be made via bank transfer to our designated client account: - Account Name: DCB Legal Ltd Client Account    Sort Code: 20-24-09    Account Number: 60964441 You must quote the correct case reference [redacted] when making payment. If you do not, we may be unable to correctly allocate the payment. If further action is taken by us as a result of an incorrect reference being quoted, you will be liable for any further fees or costs incurred.  Alternatively, you can contact DCB Legal Ltd on 0203 838 7038to make payment over the telephone or online at https://dcblegal.co.uk/response/pay-online/
  • Or shall I respond to the DCBLegal email and ask them for a copy of the initial charge? At least I will know where it is then as I still have no idea!

The common reply would be to ignore them and wait for the inevitable N1SDT court claim pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL to arrive in the post in the next couple of months

The alternative is to send them the LoC response posted today by doubledotcom in the LoC poll thread by ChirpyChicken , because of what you are asking for

Please just search the forum for that exact VAT acronym then delete the post. It's not needed!

    You'll see why...
