I'm trying find out if this is regular practice,I was with SKY full fibre until the 11th June.
My Vodafone activation was on the 12th June, I had a text from Openreach stating service now active, only to be fobbed of by Vodafone customer service it will take 5 day to complete activation due to running line tests , no where is this stated in the sales information this would happen

In my one (and only, and last) experience with Vodafone Broadband, bang on form.
Hope you do better than me, don't lose the contact number for Sky.
You're about to find out why they are cheap.

Vodafone use both Openreach and City Fibre , where both are available, they will use CF even if OR us already fitted , so is it only Openreach that’s available at your address , if CF are too , then you will need a new installation, as they won’t be using the same OR kit that Sky were , this obviously will take longer than a migration on the same underlying network
If it’s only OR at your address , then there should be no significant downtime as it’s a few keystrokes to move you in ‘data’ , however if VF haven’t actually set up your service at their end , you will be waiting until they do …..FWIW , it’s absolutely nonsense that they are running line tests , that’s BS .0 -

It’s utter nonsense the things Vodafone are saying …..a migration from Sky to VF , or any other ISP on Openreach FTTP should be pretty seamless, Sky goes off, you change the router , new provider comes on that’s on the day the new provider gives you as the day their service starts , but you are with Vodafone so what should happen and what does happen aren’t necessarily the same thing.

Did you cancel you actively cancel your Sky. Broadband yourself? I ask this because you say your Sky ended on the 11th and Vodafone activation was due the 12th, if you did cancel this was the fundamental mistake, if your moving from a provider who uses the OpenReac0

TBH , the status of the ONT light’s pretty much proves that there are no issues with the Openreach PON , the issue is that VF are not hitting their own date that they give to the OP , and that’s entirely within their own organisation, it’s utter nonsense that they need 5 days , if that were the case why did they give the date as 12th if Sky were relinquishing your supply on the 11th , tgat in itself shows the lie that they need 5 days for testing ….VF really do take the mick with their ludicrous excuses , it’s nonsense that they need a 5 day ‘line test’ , that doesn’t even make sense on a PON ( passive optical network) , what ‘line’ are they supposedly testing ?0
