I was sent a parcel (Royal mail signed for), but it was just put through the letter box, is this the norm? and what is the point of paying the extra cost? when i looked at (track my item) it shows time and date when exccepted at parcelshop but nothing about when it was delivered to me.

Is this the same parcel as in your other thread?
If so, it would be better to keep all communication within the same thread.2 -

During covid it became normal practice. It was supposed to have returned to normal practices of actually getting signatures but undoubtedly some prefer the quicker method of just posting it through and not have to wait at each and every door to see if someone is in or not.0 -
Possibly it was photographed prior to being put through the door - the name signed for is a relic from pre-covid times.Signed for is a waste of money as it has the same service and compensation as ordinary post. RM24 or 48 is much better value if you want proof of delivery and a much higher level of compensation.0

Signed for is a very poor service and has very little use. RM48 or RM24 is much better.
Whether or not a signature is obtained still seems to be a bit hit and miss.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
