Surely you would have made copies before sending them if they were so difficult to obtain.
Copies of 4 yrs worth of bank statements from multiple banks! Printing yourself or going to a copy shop, either would cost a fortune
I suspect that the OP has, like me, opened many current accounts to take advantage of the linked regular savers that can then be opened.

I've got 16 'active' current accounts. At 10p an A4 page, four years-worth of statements (assuming one page per month, many will be more) that's £76. That's before you consider the statements for the linked savings accounts which will at least double this figure.

Then there's the accounts that are now closed/dormant but have been active in the last four years, half as many again?

You'd scan them and keep the images

1500-odd A4 sheets? If you happen to have a scanner with a sheet feeder then maybe, although that's 3 packs of copy paper's worth.

You could get a digital copy at the copy shop along with your 150 quid's-worth of hardcopy, there would of course be an additional cost.

Utterly ridiculous demands by DWP, and that's before the incompetence of losing the documents after delivery.

Has anybody else had a problem with DWP losing their documents? Don't they scan them on arrival? They were sent and received at the end of April. Am really stressed!!
They do scan them  but the DWP will get many dolly loads a day, there will always be some that get lost due to the scale of numbers. Having your National Insurance number on each sheet can help.

That's a good tip about putting NI number on each page. Will remember that going forward.

DWP are conducting a review of our existing Pension Credit claim mainly to check if our capital went over the minimum. They asked for 4 years of bank statements. Not easy to get, as we have different accounts to gather as much interest as we can (thanks Martin, but no more... as you'll see, it hasn't been worth it...) We don't even get paper statements anymore. Anyway after pleading with the banks, I got the copies. I then sent them to DWP by special delivery. They were signed for and received. I had a phone conversation with an advisor about a month ago as they queried some apparently missing pages. Now they are saying they do not have the statements! Any of them! They want me to do the whole process again. I said I can't. It's really upsetting, I'm a fulltime carer. Have started a complaint.

DWP do not sign for anything.
Any large company such as this or banks. Any signed for post is signed for by RM at delivery office. Or they would be spending all day at places who get lots of mail.

I get a free proof of posting receipt from the post office when I have to send anything to the DWP.

Before I post it, I make a copy of everything, & make my own notes on exactly what I've sent to them on what date. I also add my NI number & DOB to every single piece of paper. They still manage to lose so much of my paperwork that it almost feels targeted - then I come on here & see it isn't just me. Yes, I accept they have so much paper, some of it must get lost, but most of the time it's not actually lost, it's just misfiled or the person on the helpline hasn't been trained well enough to find it on your record.

The most effective way for them to locate your paperwork if you've asked nicely & got nowhere? Get your MP involved - it's amazing how quickly all those forms appear, as if by magic...
