DWP have lost all of the documents I sent by special delivery!!!

DWP are conducting a review of our existing Pension Credit claim mainly to check if our capital went over the minimum. They asked for 4 years of bank statements. Not easy to get, as we have different accounts to gather as much interest as we can (thanks Martin, but no more... as you'll see, it hasn't been worth it...) We don't even get paper statements anymore. Anyway after pleading with the banks, I got the copies. I then sent them to DWP by special delivery. They were signed for and received. I had a phone conversation with an advisor about a month ago as they queried some apparently missing pages. Now they are saying they do not have the statements! Any of them! They want me to do the whole process again. I said I can't. It's really upsetting, I'm a fulltime carer. Have started a complaint.

Has anybody else had a problem with DWP losing their documents? Don't they scan them on arrival? They were sent and received at the end of April. Am really stressed!!

Surely you would have made copies before sending them if they were so difficult to obtain.

Copies of 4 yrs worth of bank statements from multiple banks! Printing yourself or going to a copy shop, either would cost a fortune

You'd scan them and keep the images

I'm sorry this has happened to you, Pigeons, and it is upsetting.

Is there maybe a way you can trace the Royal Mail Special Delivery (through tracking) on line and take a screenshot to send to DWP?  When I paid for Special (next day) delivery at the Post Office I was given a receipt with a Royal Mail tracking number on it.

It is a while ago, and thankfully my form arrived safely, but I remember receiving an email from Royal Mail confirming that a signature had been obtained when the form was delivered at DWP.  I could see the page with the signature - even though it was indecipherable - and it had the date and time on it.

A few minutes with a smartphone or digital camera, no need for hard copies.

No I didn't make copies. I am my husband's fulltime carer and was stressed enough, and I thought special delivery would be sufficient insurance. But Late news flash. I called again and it turns out they have everything - but filed under my name instead of my husband. I asked about this. (I'm his appointee but the PC has always been in his name). Surely they should have known this. So it looks like it's solved, but I am shocked at their lack of training and how they pushed me to repeat something I'd already done.

If course they would need printing to be able to resend them to the dwp

For future reference never use special delivery for DWP, its a waste of money and will be signed by someone at a delivery centre not a DWP person.

Just trying to make the point that it is not very wise to send the only copy of any important document in the post.

It's so easy to take a digital copy these days.
