I thought Howdens didn't deal directly with consumers but only did B2B sales.

Is this a quote from Howdens or from the installer?
Howdens were were quite happy to deal directly with me as long as they could send the bill to my builder.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Howden and Wren are not the same.
My partner is a builder and won't put in a Wren kitchen again, you buy it you install it has become his saying.

Howden cabinets come pre-made so ensure whatever quote you get the product is the same starting point.

Also check cabinet thickness, cheaper products won't last as long.

That price does sound expensive but I haven't bought a kitchen in 3 years so I could be out of date.

Maybe get a price without appliances so all your quotes are based on the product only.

Have Wren gone off then? That’s a shame.

Our 8 year old kitchen is Wren and was simplicity itself to fit by myself,  carcasses were ready built and very sturdy,  clever wall attachment system, easy to hang doors and drawers.
I had a carpenter come and fit the expensive worktop and build me a washer housing, for which Wren supplied the over sized door.
It looks as good now as it did when fitted.

Would never go for high gloss finish again though!

Thought I'd give a quick update, the deadline passed from the original branch without any further reduction.

My wife went to another Howden branch armed with the Wren quote and managed to get  few hundred quid off (sorry I don't have the numbers in front of me so I can't say how much it was). We also decided to get the appliances (hob, oven, hood) elsewhere and got another £500 off.

The kitchen fitter is not related but almost family so he was happy to let us get whatever discount we could without him getting involved.
