Sim swap fraud growing beware. Nothing changed although massive increase of thefts reported

Monday my number was taken without consent from Lebara, I went through a strict security practice and they got it back,Where was that security when it was taken, I think it was still on their network. Yesterday it was taken again from Lebara although despite the adviser said extra security would be added. Still not got it back. may take days, My banks have been approched but secure enough not to give access. Just to add, I don't do social media, computer is secure and phone is with me. It seems available with minimal checks and a sob story.

what do you mean your "number was taken" - are you saying someone has phoned up and asked for a SIM to be linked to your number and then sent to a different address?
  • Do Lebara offer 2 factor authentication when making any changes/requests? I am with 1p Mobile and the account log-on needs a 6 digit verification code that is sent by email.

No. I checked today. They're in the process of introducing it.

That's fair enough but the main concern is what would happen if someone rang 1pMobile pretending to be you and saying they wanted a new SIM - would 1p insist on the verification code being quoted before processing it?
  • 10 days after it happened I am still waiting for my number to returned back to me by Lebara, I have been through multiple security checks that confirm my i.d. with them, sent chat messages and emails and they say... they have contacted the provider the number was ported too and asked for its return.
I Have called that provider who say a port out from them can be done in 24hrs.
    WHATS LEBARAS EXCUSE.??

That's how it works, that's some security at least or image of original sim is proof of ownership.
