Hi can anyone help. Is sister getting all benefits entitled too. She has a moderately disabled son he is now 19 and leaving education (he won’t be able to work as actually is more than moderately disabled) he will get pip and uc himself, she gets pip, uc and carers allowance for him. Is that everything don’t want her to be missing out on anything as now he is 19 she has lost all her entitlement to funds for him so money now hugely dropped . I read about carers element? Can she get that or not because she has pip herself ? Thanks

Your other thread says she gets "the disability element in her UC".

If by that you mean she herself receives LCWRA element she cannot also get Carers Element, as the same person cannot get both.

Next issue. Basically he has a taxi paid for to go further education but now he’s leaving for education to go into a daycare. My friend has been told by the social worker and psychiatrist that he has to pay for the taxis to his daycare out of his PIP. How does this work because of say pip about 500 quid and the taxi is £80 a day to where he’s got to go does anyone know if there’s any calculator or anyway finding out? If and how much help he could get towards the taxi fair as we’ve been told it has to be fully paid by himself through his PIP but as you can see the pip with no way near cover the travel expenses

I would suggest she contact citizen's advice about the whole situation (maybe you go with her) as they can get the whole picture & should know exactly what help they are entitled too.

    In other thread.
He is leaving “further education” and going into a “work based (working around animals ) at a centre for disabled people. Doing arts and crafts and things like that. So it’s still education but not classed as further education  it’s basically a day care for adults with needs

So if not education would he be entitled to UC? Does he get paid for this?

Really needs to speak to someone with full details of what their situation is.

No pay as it’s a day care facility as he has severe learning issues. So it’s very similar to education but slightly different he will get pip and universal credit but his PIP will be say £550 a month universal credit probably £500 but the Taxi has to have is £60-£80 a day to get to this facility but we’ve been told that he has to pay for his taxi cost which as you can work out all his money would be gone and he would still owe a lot of money to Taxi company without even considering the cost of living

So if he is getting UC.
    Under 25 £316.98

Might be LCWRA to be applied for.

Do they get any other benefits?

UC LCWRA is £423.27 a month (for him).

Carers Allowance is not "disability element in her UC"
If she has been getting Disabled Child Element then I'd expect Carers Element to already be in payment. Carers Element would continue even with the DCE ending.

It might be possible that he cannot afford to attend every day if the cost is so high and the household income cannot meet the cost.

I see from another forum your nephew has a Motability car, but the only driver works and wouldn't be able to use that car for nephew accessing the day centre.
I'd suggest it's in your nephews best interests to return the car and resume the PIP Mobility payment of £75 a week.

Speak to local welfare rights and the establishment to see if there is any help that the social worker is unaware of.
The social worker might also be gatekeeping with regards to funding.

I’ve checked her uc and no carers element. She didn’t know she was even entitled to it. The dad can’t do the run in the day due to his work
But he is taken places most evenings and weekend as he goes to things like
disability discos etc. so yes car can be sent back but 75 a week isn’t gonna help
Much with taxi cost as it’s been quoted 75 a day
