Or even better, this good old tactic:

Fred Blogs, the keeper at old address names Fred Blogs, the driver at new address.

Driver then gets a fresh PCN. Driver appeals saying it is a simple keying error of one digit so cancel the PCN.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So respond to say the same name is the driver at new address? And that will’s trigger a new Pcn?

I could use my wife’s name as the driver at the new address?

Do not identify the driver, never use terms like i did this, or he, she, wife, husband, etc.
not on here and not to the parking company or anyone else

Ok thanks for all the help. I have emailed the DPO email address and said they have sent the PCN to the wrong address and to resend to the correct address and put new address. No mention of driver etc I also included the PCN number.

Hopefully the charge comes to the new address and then I can appeal with the evidence that I did pay.

Not just that aspect,  you emphasise that it's a minor keying error of a single character so the pcn should be cancelled in line with the latest BPA Code of Practice

So what coupon mad suggested,  the point we are making is that it's more a case of a simple keying error that their systems should have picked up on   ( whereas you are focusing on the monetary payment aspect,  in fact it's both  )

    Right please take this advice
    1.  If you get some push back on the changing of the address on the PCN then you need to push back-  See the email here where i complained to the BPA that APCOA were not updating someone's address when they moved

I have investigated your concerns with APCOA and can advise as follows.

Unfortunately, there was some confusion among new staff regarding the process, but this has now been resolved.

The process has been confirmed as follows.  When a motorist requests an address update for an active parking charge, APCOA will process the update upon receipt of the necessary documentation.

APCOA do advise the motorist to contact the DVLA to update the registered keeper details when the motorist requests the change apply to all future parking charges.  This is because updating the address for a single parking charge does not affect future notices as each new parking charge is issued based on the registered keeper details provided by the DVLA at the time of the incident.

I hope the above is helpful.

    2.  If you do get the chance to appeal this again then you ***do not*** appeal this on the basis that you made payment blah blah blah.  You simply dont beat APCOA on that basis

You use the text below to beat this (you dont add anything about payment on the day and you appeal as the keeper only)

This is an appeal by the registered keeper - No driver details will be given. Please do NOT try the usual Group Nexus Trick of asking for driver details in order to get around the fact your NTK does not comply with POFA. As there is no keeper liability then liability cannot flow from the driver to the keeper and thus is an auto win @ POPLA. Please therefore cancel the notice or issue a POPLA code where you will auto withdraw

    ***not relevant land for POFA***

Help! Dropped off at Manchester airport on 16th May and paid charges online straight away. Moved house and then updated log book address. In that timeframe a parking charge was sent unbeknownst to me. Just received post from the old house from new owner and there’s a parking charge which has gone well over 28 days to appeal or pay (I checked and I did pay out put one digit wrong on the registration!)

what will happen with this and is there any way out from this?
It's difficult to see how you got the reg number wrong. When you pay online, you enter your reg number and it matches it with the reg number on their system identified as owing the money with a specific date and time and asks you to confirm.

Surely if you entered the wrong number, it would flag up as number not found and you'd be unable to pay?

    Most systems don't do that.

  • Hello, I dropped off at T3 Manchester Airport in June which I paid £5 for as soon as I returned home - about an hour after I had been through the drop off zone. I then received a notification from APCOA saying that I had not paid and charging me £100. I appealed and sent a screenshot of my bank account showing the payment had gone through. This was a month ago and I have heard nothing since. I have this morning tried to contact them but when I put in the details of the ticket and car reg it says that it cannot be found. Has this happened to anyone else?? Do I just assume that it has been resolved?? Any advice gratefully received.
