Can I still put in a claim to VW?

Hello all. In the last 14 years, we have financed 7 cars from VW. All details have now dropped off credit report so nothing in last 6 years, I guess. We did get 2 letters from VW Finance offering us £500 each for 2 of the financed vehicles last year. Can't even remember what the payments were for now and I binned the letters when the money came through. Has anyone else had this? Was it likely to be a payment in return for us agreeing not to put in a claim in respect of the financing? Only 2 of the agreements had this "offer". Thank you in advance

Nobody has been given any payment for the commission issue.

Some lenders find failings while checking records and pay out, this has no impact on any commission complaints.

It is likely that the payment you received was for something else, last year I had a repayment for miscalculation of interest. It was a lot less than £500 but I had cancelled the agreement within the first 14 days.

Not a chance of it being that.  They would have been for an identified other failure and would have said that was at the time.  A common one is a missed refund on the final payment.

Best to wait until the FCA consultation on redress schemes is complete.   

The way it is looking at the moment is that the FCA will cancel every complaint made so far, set up a scheme for consumer to use directly and bar the claims companies from getting paid.
