Parking space which is half hatched - what is the purpose?

Options
I am currently in the process of appealing a PCN using the wealth of info detailed within this forum, my question pertains more to the space itself.

I can't see any reason why this has been hatched off other than to catch out unsuspecting motorists? If someone reversed into this space they could get out of the car without seeing the hatchings at all

None of the other spaces in the car park have this half-hatching, surely if it is to prevent people parking the entire space should be hatched or landscaped to prevent it's use? I also can't find any examples of this online although admittedly it's a bit tricky to search for!

Any answers on a postcard please  :D

    Isn't it a motorbike space?

Is that a pedestrian crossing close by?  Would it be to stop cars parking there that might reduce visibility of the pedestrian?

If it's a motorbike space, it should be signed as such. The pedestrian crossing argument doesn't really hold as there's enough pavement for it not to be dangerous.

In short, there is no actual explanation. The hatchings aren't yellow, which would convey some kind of meaning aligned with the Highway Code. But this is just meaningless paint on the ground.

What is the alleged contravention? What does the signage say exactly? Does it say what randomly painted X's on the ground designate? Start there in order to formulate the response. As ever, which PPC is it? Is the notice POFA compliant? Follow the NEWBIES thread guidance around Notice to Driver/Notice to Keeper. Don't say who the driver was.

It doesn't make sense as a motorbike space, as the bike would have to be sideways and would be awkward to manoevure out of if the adjacent space was occupied.
As far as I can see, it doesn't make any sense at all.
Regarding alignment with the HC, I'd suggest checking TSRGD, which is the actual law: at a brief glance, TSRGD does show "X" hatching in yellow with a box around it and I didn't see anything saying how many X's had to be in the enclosing box; however, I didn't see any in white.
So, if those markings aren't TSRGD compliant and therefore are an invention of the parking operator, it's down to their signage.

It has no obvious reason for being there, but it doesn't need an explanation it's private land it's the owners discretion you can't use that as an appeal point, you need the usual stuff.

Which parking firm is chasing you?

Well, if it's not a standard sign and there is no explanation, then it cannot have a meaning.
But yes to the usual stuff anyway.

If signage says no parking in hatched areas that will be their reason they don't need an explanation or a meaning for the restriction though do they? They are unregulated and markings will be used to scam as they please.

    ...and that's an explanation!

You have answers. That bay marking makes no sense at all. Show us the signage.
