How is everyone dealing with posting letters (Ebay sales)? Any tips?

Options
A lot of my sales can be posted in letter size (5mm thickness).
I don't do SD for them - just custom and choose letter which costs me 87p 2nd class.  As most of the items are £4 - 5, I don't choose SD as that would mean £2.70.

My main problem is Ebay estimated delivery times for letters is very unfair.  My postman tells me they have been asked to give priority to parcels and only deliver letters once or twice a week.  Plus letters do not have tracking.

For example my last sale was on 17th May and I posted on the same day before 11 am as it was a Saturday.  According to Ebay email I had till 21st May to post (I have 3 day dispatch).  But the estimated delivery to the buyer was 22nd May!!  How is that possible?   Had I posted it on 21st, there is no way it would have reached by 22nd (second class).   Buyer opened a request on 24th (7 days after buying) and I ended up refunding!

It is a big jump from 87p to £2.70.   Isn't any one else having the same problem?  How are you dealing with it?  Any tips?

The wildly inaccurate eBay delivery estimates have been well discussed (I am a habitual poster of moans about it), there is nothing at all you can do about it as they don’t care.

I just use an eBay label for an 87p label, or sometimes even use a plain stamp and get a POP. Incidentally both my Yodel and my Evri drop off shops now take RM letters and parcels if they have a pre printed label with a QR code.
